The Burns family is celebrating a joyful new arrival. On May 17th at 5:25 p.m., Joe and his wife Naomi welcomed their second son into the world, a healthy baby boy named Leonidas “Leo” Burns

In every role he takes on, Joe Burns shows up with heart, humility, and a drive to serve. His actions speak louder than any campaign slogan. He’s not just running for office, he’s working for the people of Sedro-Woolley every day.

Council-Member Burns is the only current council member, and the only candidate for Ward 6, who has earned the Association of Washington Cities Advanced Certificate of Municipal Leadership. This achievement reflects Council-Member Burns’ dedication to continuous learning and his drive to serve Sedro-Woolley through informed decision-making and strategic thinking.

Chief Tucker said, “When Joe first ran for Council, he was the first candidate that ever came in and introduced himself and asked what we needed as employees of the City. I thought that was refreshing as someone who was going to represent the citizens of Sedro-Woolley. He must have spent a couple of hours with me and the Fire Chief looking at where we were and where we wanted to be, a seriously down-to-earth approach!”

Bringing more activities to Sedro-Woolley for our youth is very important to Joe. Because of that, Joe voted to help bring the YMCA youth...

As Chair of the Planning and Business Development Committee for two years, Joe organized round-table discussions between City Council members and local business owners to better understand how we can support the growth of small businesses in Sedro-Woolley. We heard from a wide range of stakeholders and found that the top priority for many was improving the visual appeal of our city. Councilmember Joe Burns has consistently stood with our police department, and this year his support helped bring a major upgrade to Sedro-Woolley’s public safety capabilities: the addition of a K9 program to the Sedro-Woolley Police Department.

I’m excited to officially kick off my campaign for re-election to the Sedro-Woolley City Council, and I want to thank this incredible community for the opportunity to serve over the past four years.
