Council-Member Burns is the only current council member, and the only candidate for Ward 6, who has earned the Association of Washington Cities Advanced Certificate of Municipal Leadership. This achievement reflects Council-Member Burns’ dedication to continuous learning and his drive to serve Sedro-Woolley through informed decision-making and strategic thinking.

Chief Tucker said, “When Joe first ran for Council, he was the first candidate that ever came in and introduced himself and asked what we needed as employees of the City. I thought that was refreshing as someone who was going to represent the citizens of Sedro-Woolley. He must have spent a couple of hours with me and the Fire Chief looking at where we were and where we wanted to be, a seriously down-to-earth approach!”
