Joe and his wife Naomi are also deeply involved with the Sedro-Woolley Lions Club, where community service is a shared family value. Joe, a former Club President and current director, helped launch the Lions Club Foundation, which has already raised funds for childhood cancer treatment. He also played a major role in bringing back the Sedro-Woolley Log Drive, a tradition rooted in the town’s logging heritage. Revived as a charitable fundraiser, the Log Drive now runs annually in the weeks leading up to the 4th of July. It blends fun, history, and purpose.

The Loggerodeo Grand Parade is organized by the Lions Club, both Naomi and Joe play key roles in making sure it runs smoothly. Joe serves as the Parade Foreman, ensuring everything stays on schedule and quickly addressing any issues that come up. Naomi now manages the judges’ stand and works with the announcers. For the past four years, Joe has also driven the Log Drive float in the parade, with their son Eli joining the ride for the last three. Eli loves waiving at all the people as they drive through the parade.
