Joe Burns is the Skagit County Commissioner for District 3, bringing a background as a high school automotive instructor, former shop foreman at Rallye Auto, and longtime community volunteer, with a career rooted in service, hands-on leadership, and problem-solving. In every role he takes on, Joe shows up with heart, humility, and a drive to serve. His actions speak louder than any campaign slogan. He’s not just running for office, he’s working for the people of Sedro-Woolley every day.

Joe was appointed to serve District 3 after years of public service at the local level, including on the Sedro-Woolley City Council. That experience shaped how he approaches county leadership: focused on problem-solving, collaboration, and making decisions that hold up over time — not just in the next news cycle.

As a Commissioner, Joe brings a clear understanding of how county government actually functions. He knows that the county’s most important responsibilities aren’t flashy, but they matter every day: housing and land-use planning, public health, infrastructure, emergency preparedness, and economic stability for both rural and urban communities.

Joe and his wife Naomi live in Sedro-Woolley. Naomi is a certified nursing assistant at a physical rehabilitation facility and an active Lions Club volunteer. Their son Eli is an energetic five-year-old who loves maps, learning about the stars, and helping Dad around the house. Baby Leo, at nine months old, is all smiles as he watches his big brother’s adventures, and crawls around exploring.

NO GIMMICKS, JUST THE WORK.

Joe Burns is running to make Skagit County government work—plain and simple. He's already tackling the real pressures families are facing right now: housing costs that are out of reach, gaps in healthcare, an economy that needs to work for both rural and urban communities, and protecting the land and water that define Skagit County.

Joe’s approach is practical and collaborative. He listens, works across lines, and focuses on results—not politics.
